Mount Hawthorn
Character Home Renovation
95 Dunedin Street
This 1938 character home was ready for a refresh — and a refresh it got.
Thoughtfully transformed for modern living while honouring its original charm, this home now strikes the perfect balance between old soul and new energy.
Key character features were lovingly retained and revived — from intricate indented ceilings to rich timber floors that simply needed a little love.
We designed a generous rear extension to introduce a new open-plan living area — bringing modern function into this character-rich home. The addition features soaring 3-metre ceilings that mirror the original height of the 1930s build, allowing the transition from old to new to feel seamless and intentional.
To enhance flow and connectivity, large bi-fold doors open the living space out onto the deck, inviting natural light in and creating a strong relationship between inside and out. The rich jarrah flooring continues throughout, tying the spaces together with warmth and cohesion.
High-level highlight windows were also introduced to flood the interior with daylight and further emphasise the openness of the new addition.
The result? A warm, welcoming and elevated home full of personality, history, and light — just the way it was meant to be.
